Car Notes
2011.04.11 Ebay

Carthage, MO

Up for sale is my 2001 Camaro. It is an authentic SS. The color is Sunset Orange Metallic which is pretty rare. You don't see many of these around. Hate to let this one go but I recently graduated from college so I need to sell some of my toys and pay off some debt.

Mechanically: The car is quick and drives out great. The motor is a 5.7 liter, LS1 aluminum block. This is the original motor with 134,000 on the clock. It has some bolt-ons but remains stock internally. Comes with LS6 intake, ported throttle body, aftermarket airlid and 1 3/4" longtube headers (ceramic coated), X-pipe into Spintech Mufflers. Sounds very nice. The transmission is a 4L60E that I had professionally built by the guys at Performabuilt Transmissions. This is their "Level 2" which is rated to 700 rear wheel horsepower. While I had the tranny out I also installed a Hughes Performance SFI flexplate and Performabuilt 3200rpm stall torque converter. For those of you who aren't familiar with Performabuilt and their workmanship, rest assured, they are top of the line. Just check out reviews of their products at LS1tech.com. This combination only has about 6000 break-in miles of light street driving on it. Still has the stock 10 bolt rear-end and stock gearing. Car was street tuned with a laptop using HPTuners by Chris Huels of TuneLSX.com. He is the best local tuner, does most of the tuning for 417Motorsports out of Springfield Mo. Check out the December 2008 edition of Car Craft to see a 1000 horsepower turbo nova which he tuned. The guy knows his stuff and the car runs accordingly.

Exterior: The car has over 100,000 miles on it so as would be expected, there are some small chips and scratches here and there. Nothing major and the car still looks great. Pictures don't really do this car justice. The roof pillar has the common chips and scratches which I show in the pictures. Overall the condition is good. The wheels are stockers which were spray painted black by the previous owner. Tires are 275/40/17s all around. I replaced the fronts with Nitto NT555s about 6000 miles ago and the rears are Nexen N3000s with a little tread left, (pictures included). I had the suspension aligned after installing the new tires. Tread is wearing even.

Interior: The seats are charcoal leather with light usage marks, no rips or tears. No carpet staining. Both T-Tops are in great condition (no leaking) and still have the sun-shades also in great condition. Drivers power seat, cruise control, and steering wheel stereo controls all work flawlessly. There is a small chip in the plastic door panel (passenger side) and a missing radio knob, See pictures for detail. Windows are tinted. Some of the tint is starting to peel lightly on the drivers side window.

Problems: (Excluding the small appearance issues listed above) A rock recently hit the front windshield and cracked before I had a chance to repair it so now the windshield needs replaced. I've included pictures of the crack. I called a local glass shop and they quoted me just under $200 to replace it, that includes parts and labor. Also, the window motors are slower than they should be. They always roll up and down fully without hesitating but it just takes a few seconds longer than it should. The drivers side window is a little loose fitting in the channel. This can be fixed at the same time as replacing the window motors (roughly $50 a piece). The air conditioning blows but got progressively warmer as last summer went along. I think it needs to be recharged but am not 100% sure this is the problem.
